Let's adapt and make the best out of what we have

Another post and other adventures ! As it was sadly expected, new measures were decided to stop the coronavirus from spreading thus forcing our associaton to close, again... Before this happened I got to do different activities in the office, such as editing a video of the "Charlas Profesionales" : the workshop with alumnis that came back to talk about their career paths, which happened during the holidays, the editing was a time consuming task but I learned so much ! I had never really edited in a serious way before and I got to do it for a project here and that made me really happy and proud of myself.

We still had the classes open at that time, and then the government of La Rioja, after seeing the cases of Covid19 rise up in the region, decided to close the perimeter even more, as well as everything "unessential", the first measures still considered us as essential and we could keep working in presential for a week, but it all changed with the second annoucement that decided that the only presential education that could keep going was the mandatory education.

We then started getting everything ready for the online classes, deciding which platform to use, what kind of games and exercises we could do to keep the classes interesting and give the pupils a nice experience through all this craziness. All the classes would keep occuring nonetheless with the same groups and at the same hour.

At this moment that I am writing we have already been doing this for a week, some classes going better than others (it is hard for the youngest to concentrate on the computer for a long time, even with games and such) but in general I was happily surprised by the groups´s reactions and their wish to continue working online. The hardest part still being working on the texts as children get easily distracted and bored. As opposed to improvisations, games using the camera and different types of entrances, putting makeup on to create characters, etc, which all worked really well and got them asking for more !

We will see how it is going to evolve but for now we are doing our best with the opportunities we have and though I cannot wait for everything to go back to normal, we are still making the most out of this situation and putting a smile on the pupils' faces and ours through these online classes !
